Arizona CDA Reflections

Father Abran, and My dear Sisters in Christ,

On behalf of my fellow State Board members and
myself, I extend to you all our "Thanks" for your
support and re-election as State Board Members.
We truly appreciate the vote of confidence. It is
YOU who are the beacon of light, supported by
Our Blessed Mother's love that sustains and
supports us in ALL our endeavors. Our State
convention contributed an opportunity to
rededicate ourselves to living our Catholic Daughter's Motto of Unity and Charity. We pray that our resolve to live by our Motto will assure that we continue to do our Lords work as an organization. You all clearly demonstrate your faith and commitment by caring for members of our Church, community, as family advocates and for your respect for life.
I want express my heartfelt thanks to Kathy Oplaski, Regent of Ct. Padre Kino and the members of her Court for hosting our Convention. and Agnes Miller, Regent of Ct. Our Lady of the Desert and members of her Court for Co-Hosting. Ladies, what can I say except, "You out did yourselves!"
To Theresa Malik, how can we repay you for the beautiful Mass booklets you prepared for our Convention services? To Eileen Esch, for the beautiful CDA stole she so lovingly made with out pattern for our State Chaplain Fr. Abran Tadeo, a million thanks. I wish I could thank ALL of you individually for all you did before, during and after the convention, ....know that I and the members of the State Board truly appreciate all your efforts.
To Father Abran, and Emmanuel Alday for the Beautiful shrine and water fall they set up for our Blessed Mother. You are the best.
The long hot days of summer are upon us. As most of you have planned your summer vacations. Many of you will be going "back home" for the summer, I wish you and yours a great summer and a safe trip. To those of you who will stick it out here in Arizona, turn down the air conditioner, reports are that we are in for a HOT summer.
We look forward to seeing and visiting your courts come September when we resume our regular schedules.
May Gods Blessings Always be Upon You, I remain,

Respectfully, Yours in Christ,

Delma Araiza, State Regent

Dear Catholic Daughters,

I hope and pray that all is going well and that the summer is off to a great, relaxing and peaceful start.
In reflecting on this time that we call Ordinary in the Church, I tend to think that we can sit back and move with the groove. The truth is, that after the time that we celebrate Easter, the Lord has sent us out to continue His mission and offer His love not to fall into the groove.

The Bi-Annual Convention that we participated in Mesa, Arizona was a great example of what it means to continue the mission of Christ. We gathered together to fellowship and work. The Catholic Daughters of Arizona give great hope to the Resurrection of Christ with all of the positive work- and influence you have shown throughout the country, but especially in the State of Arizona.

Thank you for all the great work from supporting vocations to the priesthood and religious life, to Habitat for Humanity. I challenge you to continue this work and to look for more opportunities to minister to the people of God to promote the Catholic Daughters.

On my part, I have pledged to visit every court in the State. Delma will be in contact with every court to schedule a time and date for she & I to visit. I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

May God Bless you, your ministry

Ct. Our Lady of Lourdes No 2278

Besides continuing to do their good works for charity and serving their church community and the community at Large, Regent Ann Valencia and Theresa Malik, court Newsletter Chair, have again brought National recognition to Ct. Our Lady of Lourdes. Congratulations! and Hats off to them!. Their Newsletter was selected as the 1st Place Blue Ribbon winner in their respective category. Competition was extremely tough, but Theresa's talents prevailed over all the other states who submitted entries. I might add, this not the first time that their newsletter has been selected as a winner. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU LADIES.... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

WE DID IT AGAIN !
Ladies, thanks to all the Court Regents and their Newsletter editors, for all your impute, to the Arizona State Board Newsletter "Arizona CDA  Reflections". It was also the 1st Place Blue Ribbon winner in our category. This is the 4th time we have achieved this award, and I must tell you I am proud of you all. Your courts make our newsletter coverage successful. Without your assistance, I could NOT do the job of editor. So, let's give ouselves a pat on the back, at the same time I would like to encourage ALL courts to start their own newsletter if you don't already have one. I receive newsletters from many courts which are great newsletters, but you did NOT submit your newsletters for the competition. I actually reviewed many of the newsletter winners that were selected Nationally, and I have to tell you that I feel your court newsletters would have placed as winners. Let us Resolve to give all those other states competing a run for the Blue Ribbons.

Determination of a Catholic Daughter

Martha Vielma, from Ct. St. Monica 1987 -Tucson, has been on dialysis for sometime and is on a waiting list for a new Kidney. On May 4, 2007, she was preparing to leave Tucson to attend our State Convention with fellow court members, when her phone rang .... the hospital informed her they had a kidney, and she was to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Naturally she rushed to the hospital. She informed court members, and the members proceeded to leave for the convention. Well unfortunately, the kidney was NOT a good match. Martha went home, still determined to attend the convention. She called an airport shuttle, and boarded to go to the Phoenix airport, once there, how would she get to Mesa? She got in a cab and proceeded to the Convention site, in time for registration. Is this determination or what? Know what I would have done? Disappointment would have overwhelmed me. I am sure that I would have stayed home and would have had the "Why" question in mind. I applaud Martha's determination. May God Bless her, and may the next call from the hospital be one that will be a match. (Ed: da)

Susan Mone', 1st State Vice Regent

Bernadette Shaw Nabity, 2nd State Vice Regent

Our Lady of Guadalupe".

Marilyn Witte, State Secretary
"I wish to thank the members who voted me back in as State Secretary. The last two years have been a real learning experience for me. I think I can get by the next two years, now that I have two years experience and am more aware of all that has to be done. I hope you recovered from our busy convention. I hope you have all received your copies of the Convention Minutes. God Bless You All."

Maureen O'Reilly/O'Shea, State Treasurer
"It has been a privilege to serve as your State Treasurer for the past 2 years, and I look forward to continuing the next two years.
