(Ann Marie says her gals have been busy ... I Agree!)
My Dear Sisters in Christ,

We just recently celebrated the Glorious Resurrection of
Christ, we now are preparing for the voting and election or
re-election of new Court Officers, Regents and Treasurers
are busy filling out paper work for our attendance at our
National Convention to be held in New Mexico in July.
Circle of Love reports have been submitted, Newsletters
have been entered in the national newsletter contest, amid
all the other court functions and projects, and at home we
began to prepare for our family summer vacations. I am
tired already!

I urge all Court Regents to submit to National and a copy to your State Regent the reporting form indicating your Newly elected court officers, as quickly as possible. It is imperative that National have your courts officers names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.

We are all aware, that the Circle of Love is the core of our Order. I am sorry to say that only a hand full of courts submitted Circle of Love reports this year. I know that all the courts are doing our Lords work through the Circle of Love, because you report your activities in our State Newsletter. I urge you Regents to appoint a Circle of Love Chairman in your court, and see to it that every time your court has a project or function, she keep a list of these activities, and your annual report will be simple to prepare. All you will have to do is list them under the Circle of Love category within which it falls. I urge you all to participate in this reporting process.

Please remember to pray for our Priests and Religious, Vocations, those ill and recovering, and especially always remember to pray for the men and women in the Armed Forces who are in harms way. Let us pray for their Families as well, especially for Commander Wright, the husband of Vice Regent Katie Wright from Court St. Germaine in Prescott Valley.

I wish all of you a
Happy Mothers Day
filled with Love. God Bless

Delma

Arizona National Director
Duchess Collins

Blessings to all. By now, all elected Delegates
and Alternates to the National Convention
should already have made their room
reservations and started making travel plans
to attend the National Convention in
Albuquerque, NM. The New Mexico convention
committee is working very hard to make this
convention the "best one yen If your chaplain
will be attending please keep him informed of your plans. There will be some new and exciting changes; I hope you will be there to enjoy them.

Everyone should be busy in their courts, beginning with the election of the Nominating Committee, election of new officers in May and the planning of Installation of Officers. Hopefully all will go smoothly and each court will have a complete set of officers.

The Nominating Committee's job always seems to be the most difficult. It is their job to seek out members who are willing to carry on the business of the Court, as Court officers and present a proposed slate of officers to the membership. The next step would be to publish the proposed slate of officers in the upcoming newsletter to inform all the members of the court of the impending election.

There is a great admiration for someone who says, "yes" to a leadership position be it elected or appointed. New officers will bring new ideas and conceivably new activities and new projects will be developed. We must be open to change and most of all new officers must have the support of everyone in order to do their jobs. Working together, sharing and giving is the only way to be united as a court whether it is a state or local court.

"When was the last time you asked a Catholic women to join Catholic Daughters?" This was a question asked by our National Regent at our last board meeting in Albuquerque. Think about it, how long has it been? Membership is a growing concern in every Court throughout the Order. We are losing members faster than we can replace them. Therefore, each one of us must begin to recruit and bring in new members. We need new members to revitalize and give new life to our Courts and we must replace lost membership. There are many different approaches to seeking new members, but you know, sometimes the simplest and most effective thing we can do is to just ask someone to join Catholic Daughters. Membership is everyone's responsibility. Take on that responsibility!

I would like to remind all officers that will be wearing your robes at the National Convention the proper wearing of your robes is essential. Please ensure that they are worn properly. Wearing robes correctly and with white shoes shows our pride and respect for our organization.

In closing I would like to send this prayer and wish all mothers, "Happy -Mother's Day"

Help me, dear Lord, as a mother, I pray, and
bless these folded hands in prayer today;
May they be ever strong as they guide, as they teach,
Being never too far for a child to reach.
May they never, selfishly, try to dissuade,
Nor too quickly punish nor too slowly aid.
May they point out the pleasures in laughter and song,
And may they show, wisely the right from the wrong.
So that one day I'll know that I've helped all I can
To make her a woman, to make him a man.

Til next time, keep our Bishops, priests, deacons and all Catholic Daughters in your prayers.

SPIRITUAL ENHANCEMENT

Thanks to State Regent, Delmer Araiza,
for offering the opportunity to address the
Catholic Daughters of Arizona. It is, indeed,
 a privilege.

There is an important pro-life event that will
occur on Saturday, May 3, 2008, all across
our country. Sponsored by Saint Michael the Archangel Organization, it is an attempt to have "One Million Rosaries for Unborn Babies" recited during the same sixty-minute time span (7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Mountain Time Zone). The intention of this rosary event is to bring an end to the surgical and non-surgical killing of babies still in the womb. Imagine the impact of one million rosaries dedicated to just one cause! St. Matthew relates the words of Jesus in his gospel, chapter 21:22, "Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive."

In reading your well-written February CDA newsletter, I noticed that Court St Mark #312, Winslow, was actively participating on January 22, the anniversary of the adoption of Roe vs. Wade, praying before the Blessed Sacrament for the reversal of the decision and praying to stop abortions. How very appropriate it is for our Catholic Daughters to support the efforts to preserve the lives of the innocent unborn m any way possible.

In January, the Executive Board and several National Directors, including myself; attended the Vigil Mass for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. The enormous church was filled to the rafters, basement and beyond with thousands of those young and old concerned about abortion. Hundreds of priests, deacons, Bishops and Archbishops processed onto the altar to begin a very solemn Mass with a powerful message of hope for the saving of innocent lives.

The next day began a very emotion-filled March for Life that had an estimated 200,000 people of all ages peacefully marching from the Nation's Capitol to the Supreme Court Building. Despite the frigid temperatures the atmosphere was warm with hope, tears and expectation. It was truly an unforgettable journey!
In closing, please be aware that a CDA resolution supporting the One Million Rosaries for Unborn Babies was approved at the National Board Meeting held in March m Albuquerque. It reads:
WHEREAS, the holy rosary is considered the perfect prayer because within it lies
the awesome story of our salvation, and
WHEREAS, Our Lady has invited and encouraged us to say the Rosary as a
powerful weapon against evil, and
WHEREAS, abortion is the horrific evil of  killing unborn babies, and
WHEREAS, a nationwide pro-life prayer event to stop abortion, ONE MILLION
ROSARIES FOR UNBORN BABIES, is being planned by the Saint Michael the
Archangel Organization, now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Catholic Daughters join m the event by saying the rosary at
a specified time on Saturday, May 3, 2008, for the intention of ending the
surgical and non-surgical killing of unborn babies.

You will certainly be rewarded for your efforts to preserve life in the precious unborn. May peace, unity, love and joy be with each of you.

"A Different Kind of Drug Problem"

Editors note: The following letter appeared on the internet and was viewed by many readers. Many felt it would be appropriate for the readers of their parish.

Those drugs are still in my veins, and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, or think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin; and, if todays children had this kind of drug problem, America would be a better place!
GOD BLESS the parents who drugged us.

Submitted by a concerned citizen

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a Methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county and he asked a rhetorical question? "Why didn't we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?"

I replied, I had a drug problem when I was young: I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings and funerals. I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter what the weather.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults and elders. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the priest, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered profanity. I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dad's fields. I was drug to the homes of family, friends, and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop firewood, and if my mom had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the woodshed.

MESSAGE FROM THE STATE TREASURER

As Treasurer and one of the representatives of our State Court, I attended Mass and a reception in Phoenix, on the 60th anniversary of Court St. Cecilia on March 15. Thank you Peggy!

Since that time I have been confined at home with that virus that has ben going around in the Tucson area. Thanks to every one who kept me in their prayers. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.

 Workshops

As we began to close out the 2007-2008 year,
Election of new Officers will be taking place
in our Local Courts. In an effort to apprise all
the newly elected officers of Our "Bible" otherwise
known as the "Tools of the Trade" it is our hope
to have a series of workshops in various areas of the State. It is customary that current officers pass on to the new officers their copy of the "Tools".

If your Court DOES NOT have a Tools of the Trade for your officers, we suggest that you contact National for copies. If you have "Tools" for all officers, it might be a good idea to order at least one Copy from National, to see if all your books have all updated Changes that have been made.
